I am on a limited budget and was wondering what the best depthfinder with GPS capabilities is for the money. I am not loyal to any particular brand. Thanks in advance for the replies.

what is your budget? there are a full range of good gps/finders out there but the price can go from a few hundred to over 3k.

If you can wait until January/February you will see much better deals as the "new and improved" models hit the market

How close will you be to the screen?

I sloved my Lowrance Mark 4 and Elite 4. Both under $300 with nqvionics chips. Mark was Black and White and Elite 4 was color. With that saif, just bought a HB 389 CI DI and love it. It has the DI and the traditional sonar. I think the menus are better and easier to understand on the HB.

Lowrance HDI 5 or 7.
If you have "Old Eyes" the 7 is much easier to see, especially in split screen mode.
Little pricey but a great unit.
