Thank you... Caught it on the fly this afternoon. It's really a beautiful fish. I'd like to catch some really small ones and raise em in a 75 gal tank.

Those Longear are some of the most colorful fish I have ever seen. Nice catch.

Gitter done they were spawning and I saw one male who's colors put this one to shame! It was extremely vibrant orange with blue splotches and bright turquoise fins. It was unbelievable!!

I've always said these little guys are BAD [censored]; if one of these got up to 12" they could be mean enough to carry off children and small animals...

Nice Longear Tjustice! I have a native aquarium and Longears are one of my favorite fish to keep. They get really aggressive when feeding, lots of fun to watch especially with crickets. Think NatGeo footage of Tuna eating a baitball of Sardines on the surface (only on a much smaller scale hammer )... I would keep 3-5 adult Longear in a 75gl as a ballpark. PM me if you have any specific questions. Again, nice colored fish cheers

yep many people call them pumpkin seeds,
http://rosamondgiffordzoo.org/assets/uploads/animals/pdf/PumpkinseedSunfish.pdf
But those fish really aren't in north Texas drainages- I've caught them in the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Here in Texas we have Longears.
