Worst Mexican food: Hands down, Joe T's! Any fast food Mexican beats Joe T's.
If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough! ------Mario Andretti

In kerrville....two very highly touted places that all the "kerrverts" get all kerrverty about....
Buzzies bbq....awful....one bite and all you taste is smoke for a month....this has to be the only city in texas with a population over 10k with no edible bbq.
Classic burgers....not terrible...it's just a little better than fast food burgers, but doesn't compare with other homestyle burgers....good fries though...

I'll throw out a controversial one, Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls.
Don't get me wrong. I've been there a dozen times and I'm sure I'll stop by there many more times.
The question isn't about restaurants that suck, it's about restaurants that are overrated.
If you are going to Blue Bonnet for pies I'm sure it stands out. For breakfast, it's good, nothing to get teary eyed over.
We usually time it so that we're there early. I definitely wouldn't stand in line.
Other then that, I second Pappadeaux's and anything along the River Walk. And to add, anything along the waterfront in Port A. I agree not worth standing in line. Samething with Coopers in Llano. That BBQ is horrible.

I would agree on Geidos in Galveston. I stopped on the way back to Houston after eating there and threw a line while my wife was puking out of the car door. She threw up for about an hour after we ate there. In defense of the restaurant we did eat the Gulf Oysters and this was right after the big hurricane that struck G town. The oysters were the biggest I had ever seen. HUGE. Bigger is not always better. I compared the rest of the food to Long John Silvers. X3

Here is my list of overrated/just bad places in DFW with my favorite places in parenthesis: Mexican-Chuy's and Mi Cocina (My favorite is Mexican Sugar) Burgers-Hopdoddy and In-n-out (My favorite is Off Site Kitchen) Pizza-Rosatti's and Coal Vines (My favorite is either Cane Rosso or Grimaldi's, both are great but two totally different types of pizza) BBQ-Sonny Bryan's and Bartley's (My favorite is Pecan Lodge) Seafood-Eddie V's (Favorite is The Fish Shack) Steakhouse-III Forks and Nick & Sams (Favorite is Pappas Bros. or Al Biernat's depending on the cut of meat I order) Italian-Maggianos and Carraba's (Favorite is Campisi's)

having waded through 16 pages I guess I will contribute my 2 cents. Guidos and Mi Tierra are two places that I get to once every few years, and having gone to each all the time when I lived in the respective areas 30 and 40 years ago, I still have to go back, but yes there is better. Joe T's I agree is the worst tourist trap, Herds and Kincaids make about the same burgers to me, disappointing but better than most DQs. I like Pappadeaux and most of the papas restaurants, they are consistently good to very good to me. I agree that most chains are lousy but Ive had some pretty good lunches at outback steakhouses. Hard to imaging how olive gardens can stay in business and every few years want to go to red lobster, but the results keep me away for a few years more.

Underwoods BBQ in Brownwood is terrible. My father-in-law is from Santa Anna and all the family down there love Underwoods. You may not call their signature dish (smothered round steak) BBQ, but it is delicious.

I would not say Joe T's is overrated at all. Most people that go there, know it's not their favorite food, but...it's a nice place to sit down. I've never heard them or anyone promoting their wonderful dishes. Their fajitas are really horrible, but those little nachos with the diced japs are really good, and their breakfast menu on Sunday's is pretty decent.

We ought to start a new thread that will be the shortest in the history of the tff.
We'll title it " Restaurants that haven't been named on the most overrated restaurants thread."

Thank you! Can't stand that place. The new place is even worse than the old place. How they managed that I have no idea. Every time my office has out-of-town visitors we always end up going there at least once for a dinner meeting. I keep waiting for one of the return visitors to say, "Hold on a sec....what else you got?" Wing Stop...when they first opened up in Waco everyone at work raved over them. I gave them three honest tries and gave up. The only decent wings were the ones that were so hot all you could taste was the heat. I wouldn't call Rudy's over rated. They're just BBQ, nothing spectacular. I usually just get a 1/2 pound of chopped, 6 slices of bread and a Coke and head back to eat at my desk, so it is what it is. Cyclone bbq is over rated, in itself. The atmosphere is great, as is the service, and the quantity is literally unlimited on all items if you get the "family style." The bbq is good enough, though, probably better than average for the area, and the atmosphere is fun enough, to make it worth the drive from Waco or Temple if you have a few mouths to feed.
