I go straight west on I-30 to Abilene then turn south on 277 to San Angelo. Just like the interstate. Lots of guys go to Brady then down. I have tried it didn't work for me. Burned more fuel.

Last time I screwed up and took the scenic route down 377. Big mistake. Tomorrow it will be Abilene, san Angelo.

I used to have a deer lease near Loma Alta, I always took the scenic route, but I wasn't pulling a boat

30 west and just the other side of Cisco take 206 south to just south of Coleman . Then go west on 67 to San Angelo. Then take 277 south to Del Rio Form Amistad to Plano this way it took me 7 hrs. So from Ft Worth you should make in under 6 hours

Been all three ways and this one for sure is the best. I would exit in Cisco and go thru Coleman to San Angelo, it's about 15 miles shorter. But thru San Angelo is by far the best way to make that horrid drive.

And good luck to you guys making the trip. My partner has been down there for a week. . .and it ain't pretty. I'm betting it takes less than 14lbs to win. If someone can catch a fish over 5 they'll cash a check.

Was just there last Saturday. Did the Cisco way going down and Abiline coming back. Abilene was faster! Watch out if you are driving after about 8:00 pm south of Abilene. I saw no less than 100 deer right on the side of the road. A little sketchy at 80 mph!!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

Hopefully by mid Sept it will pick up. Very remote driving, may want to take 35S to 90W. At least if you break down you can get repaired.
