Nice ride. Hard to beat a Hobie.

Doesn't quite say it all. For example, is that a new Outback seat just being announced/released? If so, will it fit on older Outbacks (e.g., 2013 model) and can the seat alone be purchased? If not a new Outback seat, did it come form a PA? If so, how did you install it?,

Found some answers. New vantage seat revealed today at O.R. Will be available on all new Hobie kayaks. Possible new seat, new drive, and new standing platform on the new Outbacks. Not clear whether the seat can be retrofitted on older Outbacks.

The caption with that original pic says "The new vantage seats will be available on all new Hobie kayaks!"

My guess is no that it won't be able to retrofit in 2014 and older kayaks. I circled two areas in the current Outback that appear to have been changed in the picture posted by FishAll50 which I interpret as a modified deck to accommodate the new seat..

weklfrog - no, that seat is not a PA seat - looks like a new design. Doesn't look like it's on a slider (I could be wrong) but looks hinged to raise the bottom. I'm interested to see for sure if this seat made it to the Revo.

To bad some damn Hobie engineer would not have made it backward compatible; would have made them a mint. Looks like if it would have been made just a tad skinnier it would have made it or even angled a bit backwards. But my Outback is and old 2007 and I don't plan on upgrading any time soon.

Nuemie, after some discussion on the Hobie forum, it appears that pic might be of a Sport but the deck still looks like it was prob modified to accommodate the new seat. I would expect that to be necessary for all models getting this seat.....but that's a guess.

It looks like they made some minor tweaks to the Sport deck to me too, mostly in the bulkhead separating the cockpit and tankwell.

I have an older sport. I need a better seat for it.
