So once in a blue moon I get to make a trek down to the gulf with my two friends. We are planning a 72 hour trip(with some sleeping here and there) and I am wanting to compile a list of areas to try in the Galveston area. These do not have to be your "super ultra rare secret special spots" but just some type of lead. I have searched the forums and found a few areas to try but would like to gather more information. My end goal is to make a write up of the experience of the trip so others can learn.

Background info:

We do not have a boat.
We do not have a 4x4 vehicle.
We plan on both wading and surf fishing.
The target species will be Red fish, Trout, Flounder, and 3-5' sharks.
Bait will be live shrimp, artificial's, whatever is caught in the cast net, and maybe crabs.

our first destination will probably be the 61st street pier as we wont be getting in until about 8:00pm.
The next morning we will go down 8 mile road and wade through there.
Break for lunch
Then hit some beach front for the rest of the day and into the night.(any suggestions?)

Next morning depending on the surf will probably hit the rock groins
then on the drive home make a few hour stop at texas city.

If you got any places post em.

Hit up quintana if you can. They have a lighted pier also, and you can fish the jetties during the day. Also might want to try galveston state park as well, the bay side to be exact. I have had some luck on my kayak the last few times but you can cast from the shore. Surfside jetty, If you're going to the dikes free line some shrimp. In the last month we caught 2 small hammerheads some reds and trout, and something that snapped my pole like a twig and kept moving.

Awesome. I was thinking about going to surf side. I went there a long time ago when I was much younger. Didnt realize it was only about an hour and 40 compared to an hour and 26 to galveston. crazy how time feels when you are a little kid.

Thank you
