I've never even considered a Dodge before. I drove one as a rental for three weeks and man, I'm impressed! I was also getting 18.6 MPG.
Anyone out there have one? This truck would be a serious contender if I were looking right now.

My son had a hemi back in 2005 and I pulled a bass boat from Colorado to Houston with it, and got a steady 12 mpg pulling the boat. Could not complain and the truck acted like it didn't even know it was there. Both of my son's have bought new 4wd trucks in the last month, so I'll have good data for comparisons. One bought a Tundra and the other bought a F-150 with Eco-Boost. My gut feeling is that the Tundra is a better truck, but the F-150 is going to get way better mpg.

I'm interested in the mileage the Tundra gets. I currently have a 2004 Nissan Titan and the Tundra was number one on my list if I could get a new truck, but after driving the Dodge, I'm not so sure now. Of course I haven't had three weeks to drive a new Tundra either.
The Dodge I drove had 1500 miles on it when it picked it up. Practically brand new.

I've had 2009 Ram 4.8 5 speed auto 2012 Ram 5.7 6 speed auto 2014 Ram 5.7 8 speed auto and tow a 21foot bass boat the they performed very well and never had to go to the shop for repairs. They ride and drive great. not sure I would want to tow at or near towing capacity with the soft suspension with something like a rv trailer with out suspension upgrades.

My brother just traded in his 2011 dodge for a 2014 5.7 with 8 speed tranny. He says its his favorite truck yet! I'll stick to a chevy though lol

Just got a 14 Ram 1500 hemi 4X4, I have almost 4000 miles now and I'm very happy with the truck. It gets 17-20mpg on the hwy and 10-14 pulling my 20ft Skeeter! Lots better than my f-150 ecoboost

You don't buy an Ecoboost for the economy. And you don't buy a Hemi to tow anything heavy.

Rightttttt. The only selling point of the ecoboost the the added fuel economy while maintaining a stout [censored] tow rating. 120k on a hemi and I never hooked it to anything it wouldn't tow. Now in a tundra, same story. The only other truck I'd consider would be an ecoboost because the Chevy and conventional gas ford motors can't keep up. I've put 18k on a 14 Chevy z71 in the last 7 months and it's a great truck, just weak. Same story with the ford 5.0. Great truck and great motor, just weak.

Now to put it in perspective, I'm not that old but I grew up driving small block Chevys in half ton trucks (305/350) and for comparisons sake, everything out today destroys what we had 24 years ago when I started driving in power, mileage, reliability, and so on.

1/2 ton trucks are like a nuclear arms race though, the iForce, Hemi, and ecoboost sit at the top of the pile, I've owned two of them and driven the ecoboost a lot for work. The others just don't compare. Still great trucks but if it's power you're after they lack it.

The selling point of the ecoboost is it puts out more power under 3500 rpms than the Ford 6.2l. It's a workhorse and a better tow engine than the hemi or iforce. But there are a lot of engines that can pull a small bass boat and get better economy doing it.

Personally, I appreciate the extra torque on interstate, hills and when bucking high winds.

I have an 07 Tundra with almost 200K on it. I put 260K on my last Dodge and my wife drives a Ford with the 6.2 liter in it so I feel I am pretty qualified to speak on this. All pull well!! MPG wise while towing, they are all around 11-13 mpg at 60-65 mph. Without a trailer the 6.2 is a gas hog but fast as hell, the tundra isn't far behind. The new Dodges beat them in the MPG dept while not towing. Overall, I have to go with the Tundra simply because the truck has been so dependable and nothing has broken on it (knobs, cracked dashes, torn seats, stuff like that)The truck is 7 years old and still looks great inside and I don't do much to take care of it. The 6.2 Limited my wife drives has ALL the bells and whistles and is probably the "nicest" truck. I am sure the new Dodges are quite nice as well but I am gonna stick with Toyota with my next purchase.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

I never considered dodge in my entire life until I sat in one. I bought a ram 1500 limited with the ecodeisel last month. I have never been more impressed with a vehicle in my entire life.

I average over 24 mpg and if you keep it between 65-70mph, you can get 32-34mpg hwy mileage. And I have the 4x4. Incredible. Oh.... And even though it is a 3.0 V6, it puts out more torque than my 5.4 liter f150 did.

If you are in the market, I would urge you to test drive one. You will be shocked at how nice it is.

I have to seriously question that you couldn't get that mileage with the Ecoboost. I have first hand experience with 2 different Ecoboosts, both 4x4 Screw's with 3.55 gears. They will both match those numbers easily. With the factory P rated 18's I averaged 20.2 on typical road trips with some stop and go through towns. If you can't keep your foot out of an Ecoboost and keep from spooling up those turbos, you will NOT get the fuel mileage you're expecting. I can pull a full size travel trailer at 65mph without having to catch a few gears and rev to 4.5k on every slight incline, too.

This truck is definitely worth looking at. I'm thinking it would be tough to get a good deal on one right now, though.

Last 300 mile round trip, I got over 17mpg in the ecoboost driving 80mph...at least according to the lieometer.

Started some looking at the "ram" ecodiesel. It seems like a great idea, but when you start thinking about the DEF, 5-10% premium for diesel fuel, an 11 quart oil change at $8-$9 per quart oil that you cant buy just anywhere and its not looking as great as it once was.
