Just got back from N sabine lake, 1st time
on the bay. We fished with Capt. Skip James
and I would give him a great recomendation.
The specks that had been consistant, were
not cooperating , Maybe the cool front and
wind switch to the north turned them off.
We picked up 7 nice specks from one school
early, After looking around and not finding
any activity we went to the banks after
flounder. Caught 25 nice flat fish and
one big momma. Had a ball. would like
to find someone who fishing south sabine
to get info on whats hot on the south
end.. Thanks Larry Mozingo

My sister who lives in Port Arthur sent me some pics last week of all the flounder they were catching at Sabine Lake. One went 24 inches. Being from Dallas, I didn't even know they went that big!

The big one I caught was estimated by
the guide to be " honest 6 lb". We did not
weigh it or take a measurement but it looked
huge compared to the others. The other 24
seem to be of two sizes small and medium.
Different year classes I guess. My girl
friend broke one off at the boat on 14lb test. It must have been as big or larger than the one I caught. Great fun. will
go back sooon MO

Hi Mo;
I live in Houston, and I want to get a piece of the action at Sabine lake (bank or pier fishing). Could you give some directions as to where to go? How do
I get there from Houston?

Thanks
D

Damien,
I don't now the area well but your best
best maybe the Pleasure Island area on the
south part of the lake. YOu need to go to
Port Arthur and over the bridge to the
island. Just drive around , there are lots
of places to fish,
good luck

Capt. Brad,
Do you guide on Lake Sabine? I enjoyed
my trip with CApt. Skip. He did tell me
his next boat would be a Blue Wave 22.
Do you fish the north or south end?
Any Tips for a long time freshwater, short
time saltwater angler? I really am more interested in reds and flounder than specks.

Nope don't guide sabine or any inshore, I just run some charter and company trips all offshore.

I just like to give that potlicker heck about his old kenner and about how he got in trouble by la game wardens for running trips on the la side of sabine. Good to here about the bigger blue wave. South end of sabine would be better right now, north end in spring/summer. good luck, I need to get over there soon too.
