Well work is about to start back up for me and this weekend is the final weekend I get to fish for a minute. I tried to jig again and for the first time all summer I actually had some bites! However, no crappie. Just a drum and these two smallies, but they are my first smallmouths I've ever caught.

Lake Belton
I found a few spots that form points off the main river channel. They are very rocky and covered in standing timber too. It looked good on the sonar. I had a lot of bites, but I don't think I've mastered the art of setting the hook with a jig either. I missed a lot of fish. The first was a small drum. He hit really hard and I was excited that it would be a crappie until he came up. I was using a blue/silver jig. I think I ended up using 4 or 5 of them. They got tore up pretty bad. The points drop down to about 20' fairly quickly.
