Is the areas near the dam clear of stumps or high places/ humps that you won't hit? I know it's rocky on the dam just making sure there are not any hazards out that way. Also what areas can you drive heading south and not have to worry about stumps? When should I take caution and idle?

Around the dam is fine stay to the middle slightly West Bank you can run south. if you go into Richardson slough better idle until you learn it there's some stumps that run out toward the dam next to river channel and some sandbars that sneak up on you quick to the north as you're entering the slough

I was out there today and can tell you the dam and a majority of the main lake are clear but if you start heading toward any of the creeks on the east side slow down WELL.....WELL ahead of where you see stumps. Honestly I would idle at least 150 yards before you actually reach the stumps. And as mentioned, on the south end if you are going to go into Richardson or the other creek (it splits, don't know the creek names) shut her down early - especially the side opposite Richardson. There is one doozy sitting out there all by itself at the mouth of that creek and I promise you won't know it till it's too late. I found it idling one day and it scared the hell out of me. My opinion...that lake is a lot more dangerous than most people realize. If you think you are being cautious enough, be a little more. Be safe!
