Hey all! I have no idea when it comes to lures for stripers. Any help would be appreciated. I've had some luck with chug bugs, but don't know where to start if I have to fish them deep.

The 50/50 from www.rsrlures.com works pretty dang good. And also the casting spoon type slabs.

Ask mike from moes tackle. He supplies a lot of the guides up there. He will know what they are using.

Texoma is a great fishery and continues to impress us on every trip........

we decided to down-rig only...
turned out to be the right choice.......for us

the am bite was weak at best for us, we did catch fish from preston point to 2 rivers running the south ledge....giving a wide clearance to the guides and bait guys...

the pm bite was great to excellent ..

from 6:30 pm ish to around 9:00p was the best time for us, between east and west burns from the ramp west to the point , using a 5 lure umbrella rigs with either pearl or chartreuse green 2.5" sassy on 1/4 ounce heads...

we fished 30 - 35' deep on the side two down riggers and 20- 25' deep on the back two , we caught the bigger fish on the deeper rigs and smaller on the shallower ones ... equal amounts of fish

we kept our 2 overs per person on each trip and had several box fish mixed in ... we did'nt limit on any of our trips ..but we left them biting, and we took what we needed for the fish fry and to send some fish home with the kids...

the big fish went just under 15#

no one hurt , all had a great time , lots of fish,

fished 4 days pulled 50 + fish

http://moestackleshop.com/product-category/slab-spoons/

Take a few super spooks bone or white. I buy BassPro Cheap 4" chugger, white. You will need some dressed hooks for the small chugger. The long knife slab has been crushing big fish on Tawakoni and Texoma. I always have a 4" Sassy Shad on 3/4oz JH ready to fire too! Good luck and have fun! If ya forget something, Dave's Ski and Tackle has a nice one stop shop smile

These slabs are the real thing, I was very glad to see Mike make them available locally, if you get line twist use a swivel. Topwater try Cordell Pencil Poppers chrome with blue or black, 6"-7", retie knot after a couple of fish for safety. If you can find any (Ebay has them) a Cordell Blue Striper lure, look for cheap ones some are $$$ way too much..
These are great the auction is still open, they can be fished either as a topwter or shallow depending on the retrieve, they do not float, these Creek Chub striper lures are great for early am fishing. The last 4 I have caught were on these. The hooks are connected to a steel cable which runs through the lure.
