I laughed at myself when I read the title. I think I want to learn to bass fish also...wait a minute I've been trying to learn for a long time! It really is a lifelong quest, and you never quit learning.

Texas rigged Gary Yamamoto 5" Senko in pumpkin, watermelon or black/blue colors. I don't use a weight....just let it sink and reel it slooooow. Here's a picture: http://www.ctfishtalk.com/effective-plas...ml#.U9mwjFappZgYou can thrown it around points, standing timber or grass and catch bass on any lake or pond. You don't have to spend a bunch of money to catch fish. That's how I learned and it's how I started my son. Good fishing.

X2 on the Senko worms weightless! I've recently started catching fish where I couldn't seem to catch before because now I'm using watermelon Senkos. Also GrandeBass RattleSnake worms in the watermelon color are great at some places. Look for places that bass could be "hiding", cast and let the worm sink completely, then twitch, wiggle, pause and go, or whatever you want. Sometimes different ways of working these worms works when other ways don't. You just have to play around. Also, make sure you get the offset worm hooks. There are other types of bass lures like crank baits, FROGS, spinnerbaits, jigs, etc. They are fun to learn about and even more fun once you start actually getting strikes. YouTube is your friend.

get some bass magazines and they will give you insight on seasonal patterns and baits to throw and fine tune from there.
