Found some free time and we are headed to Kayak fish Austin for the first time this weekend. Any recommendations on where to stay and where to fish would be much appreciated.

I was in Austin Friday and Saturday. I didn't get to fish any but I did go across Lady Bird and it was plenty loaded with fishermen, now whether they caught any or not, I couldn't tell you...but they should had my jealousy up!

Can't give on advice where to stay. Lady Bird Lake and Decker are probably the most convenient and kayak friendly right now.

My therapist says she's happy I flyfish for the meditative qualities. Little does she know it's the cause of my PTSD.

LBL can be very tough in the summer, it usually is. However it can produce big fish! Decker is also a very good lake with lots of grass and loaded with perch (hint, hint). LBL also get very crowded after 9-10am. Decker stays fairly quiet. Avoid Lake Austin unless you have a death wish, seriously!
