Well now don't I feel like a butthead. lol. I really meant no harm... I just didn't know how this deal worked. In my head I pictured these kids having some sort of classroom instruction as well as practical instruction. Either way its a good deal!

This high school event was much different than any we have fished. Incoming 9th graders could fish. No affiliation to a HS program where there might have been a chance to teach kids. They just had to show they were in school and a report card to show they were passing. So there were representatives from schools that don't have programs yet. This is a good thing because just maybe those schools will get programs going. Only draw back is they haven't been taught all the ins & outs of tournament fishing. If any representing schools are interested in a program in North Texas give Jeff Lobaugh a shout. Or, any of us that are advisors and we can get you and your school going in the right direction. Thanks again for the opportunity to take some of your kids out Steve. If they'll let me, I will try to do this again for sure. Your Crandall HS kids have some real potential. Two top 12 teams in this event. I didn't take it as rude either, Louie. I learned a whole lot about this deal over the weekend, too.

On Saturday, Me and a buddy had decided to leave the bass alone and go fish for Crappie under the 515 bridge. We saw several boats that were fishing the sunken bridge and saw them catch a few but it looked fairly slow as was the crappie fishing. We brought home 1 nice crappie and 2 catfish. We were using ultra lights with 4LB test on them. My partner caught a 22" Largemouth on a chartreuse crappie jig and an 18" fish with a Carolina rig leader hanging out of it's mouth. I bet it took Mike 3-4 minutes to get the 22" fish in the boat. It was a hoot. Congrats to all of the captains and all of the young men who participated. We all had to figure this thing out at one time or another and I'm sure they will learn and grow from this just like we all did.

My 2 sons fished the tourney and I was the boat captain and must say that I was really impressed with the running of the tournament and the prizes these kids received. Lake Fork Chamber did a superb job! We caught 2 keeper fish each day but still had a blast.

Look at the results of the tournaments that were there the previous 2 weeks. Bass Champs on 7/12/2014 -- 189 Teams, 104 zeroes Media Divisional on 7/19/2014 -- 69 Teams, 26 zeroes She has been fishing tough. Hang in there and keep up the good work.

I was the beachmaster (for lack of a better term) directing the kids to weigh in. I had a great time and only wish my boat was running so I could capt. for a team if needed. I did not see a single kid come to the beach that was not having a good time, little wore out on sat. from the heat and hrs but overall they all looked to be having an great time. there were a couple of tackle cos. represented and santone jigs for one really stepped up and did a great job, had some cool prize packs for 3 winners of a drawing and I watched some great deals on jigs being given to the kids as well.
looking forward to doing another.

One thing I do when fishing with my kids is getting them ready for other tourneys or fishing a non-boater. The does and do nots as a non-boater. This well make sure they are well prepaired.
Thanks,
