Hey guys new user, long time browser. So I've recently began hunting cats on Grapevine as I live close. I grew up fishing Lavon and I've found Grapevine to be a different animal as I've found almost no timber/cover.
I mostly fish at night after the kids go to bed. I've been having moderate success off the bank. I run 4 rods and usually vary my bait between shad and Danny kings as well as my rigs til I find what they are hitting on best on the particular night I'm fishing. I feel like my rigs and bait presentations aren't my problem, I think my problem lies in not finding the cover.
Would anyone mind sharing some bank fishing locations I can hit up at night? From looking at satellite maps most of my options are on parks that close at dusk...
I've done decent at the boat houses off Jones Branch but its mostly small channels that are posted up under the boat houses. I tried some flats near the boat ramp on Oak Grove park last night and managed to catch just one.
So does anyone have any suggestions they can PM me? I'd appreciate any guidance I can get at this point lol.
Thanks!

GrapeVine is fickle........ Been skunked there many times but have caught several teens, 20's n 30's too. Oak Grove is easiest night access.

I've had good luck at murrell park. Fishing trail #3 dead ends into a small cove with two small points on each side; both of which I've had success at at all different times of the year. Another good place is over on the far south west side of the lake. If you take 114 and exit white chapel blvd, go north all the way until it dead ends into a gravel parking lot. This parking lot is a trail head, check it out on google earth. One of the trails will take you straight to the water... with the lake level right now you have to walk further than usual. This area is VERY shallow right now but thats not a bad thing. I usually wade out 20-40 yards from shore before casting to get my bait into about 4-6 ft of water. In the early summer this year I caught 11 fish here that totalled about 102 lbs. I usually use cut perch for bait.
Hope this helps. good luck.

depends on what you consider "big". 11 fish totaling 102 lbs should be a clue that I didnt catch all small fish. I think the biggest one that night was 16 lbs. 7 of them were over 10lbs.
I just moved to grapevine this past february so I havent been fishing this lake all that long. My biggest on grapevine was around 22-24 i think (didnt have a scale that night). Ive hooked into some very large fish that I was unprepared for (that wont happen again). I know that ive hooked into a few that were easily over 30-40. But of course now that I'm more prepared I havent hooked into those kind of fish again... YET!!!
