I've decided I want music while I fish, and have dug up an old MP3 player and bomb speaker. That's what it's called, a bomb speaker. http://www.frys.com/product/7073311?source=google&gclid=CLDAjf374b8CFUcV7AodcSYAFQ

If I put this in the below deck storage or have it sitting above deck, do y'all think the sound or vibrations would spook the fish? My taste in music is eclectic.

I usually don't like music when I'm out, but when I di I just wrap my headphones around my neck and turn it up enough to hear it ok, but still let's me hear any approaching power boats, jumping fish, rattle snakes, or anything else important. And don't gotta worry if I'm spooking any fish or not.

Depends on the water and type of fish you are after IMO. An advantage of a yak in skinny water and for a species such as LMB is one of stealth. I think you compromise that with any noise you generate. Now for fish such as stripers or sandies in deeper water, prob not as much an issue. To each his own, but fishing for me is more one of solitude and the sounds I prefer are those of nature.........and fish blowing up.

I found a speaker a while back that used the hull as a speaker box. It wasn't very load until it was placed against the kayak. Thought it was cool when paddling around for fun but no way I would fish with it going.

Headphones can be a good thing but I like to hear boats coming. You can jam like you are standing infront of a speaker at a live concert and blow your ear drums apart. The fish will never know grin. I think if you're off the main water and tucked away somewhere safe they can be used safely.

I too enjoy peace and quite, but sometimes I'd like some jams. Ear buds are straight out because, as y'all said, they block out the important sounds and aren't good for ear drums. I don't have any small buds good enough to do like 13MWZ.

Maybe I'll put it in a life-jacket pocket.

I recently got a splashproof bluetooth speaker from amazon for $30 that I put in my life vest pocket. Then I just turn pandora on my phone and put it back in my dry box. I haven't had the battery drain yet but I do keep a Jackery battery backup with me on the water.

The speaker is great, has it's own volume control and a bonus is when a call comes in I can take it if I need to without getting the phone out in the open.
