so what is SLOW ?
what is the definition of a SLOW day on crappie ketchn ?
per hour lets say ...
per trip
per half day
whatever the case may be ?
keep versus toss backs
fish over a certain size ?
I seen this last year and always wondered what is SLOW ?
lets hear some opinions on it .....I wonder myself
I know what we think when we go ....

Hey Ketchn. I don't think that it's slow. I think that it's hot. Summer temps slow down the anglers not the fish.

I think it's slow during transitional times when I don't know where the fish are. But I think I've got a couple of ideas based on what I learned so far this year. I'll let you know if it works out in January and February. Meanwhile, it's SLOW when I haven't been on the water in four days...man I need a crappie fix!!!

Slow is when I'm laid up waiting on knee surgery. Sloooooooow!

It wasnt slow for me last weekend .... a limit in a few hours. I remember fishing Ray Roberts in the early 90's in the middle of the day in july and august just melting in 100 degree heat wearing the crappie out! We did it for years and it was incredible the size and amount of fish caught going one or twice a week.Never thought Roberts would have ever turned out like it is now

A Slow Day is personal, depending on the crappie fisherman.

If you are a super hot shot crappie fisherman who catches limits of 14" crappie in two hours on every fishing trip then it is slow if it takes you three hours to catch that limit. And it is a skunk if you must include undersized fish in that limit, undersize being any crappie under 14" in that you are forced to keep to make that limit.

If you are a hot shot shot crappie fisherman that can catch your limit in two hours on every trip then it is slow when it takes you three hours. And you never have a skunk day so there is no need to talk about that.

If you are a superior crappie fisherman it is slow if you don't catch a limit every trip, and you don't count the hours it takes, as time on the water is better than time off the water.

If you are an average crappie fisherman a slow day is when you can't find a few big enough to keep. Limits are to be cherished when they occur.

And if you are like me, every day is a slow day.

I was just wondering what the definition was in general
seems this time a year is filled with fish to me
of course like it is frequently they aint all whales
but ketchn crappie is ketchn crappie it seems to me

A slow day for us during the hot summer months, is less than 30-40 fish in the boat, whether legal or not. Like Ketchn said, "ketchn is Ketchn".

Last August was the best month we had last year in terms of volume and keepers.

And to us just the act of fishing is fun. It's more fun when we are catching fish, and great when those fish are crappie, but I am happy if I am just catching bream.

And if we end up with five crappie to have a meal it has been an outstanding day.

Everything else we catch goes back into the water to catch again on another day.

we think 40 or so for 2 people in 4 hours is pretty slow as well
