Ive got a Tundra and pull a 2005 Skeeter Bay Boat which loads out at about 3800#. That's all I want too. It does ok on flat highways but it you get in hilly terrain take it out of overdrive. At 2700 you'll be fine with the Tundra.

The load rating for Tundra is 5700 I think but no way would I pull that weight with that truck.

I'm of the thinking that I want my truck to only pull half of it's load rating for gas savings and being able to stop it. I've had this truck since 2001 and have had Fords and Chevys and this is hands down the best truck I've ever owned.

That being said my next truck next year will probably be the Ford F150 only due to the 5.4 Triton.

The 4.7 Toyota has is a great motor but I would really like a little more muscle for towing. Hope this helps.

k

The only reason i'm looking at toyota is durability....had one that I put 235k on and only alternator and clutch at 195k was all I did to it besides regular maintanance.....the '06 Tundra is 271 hp and torque is 313..tacoma is 236hp and torque is 270 ..thinking I might be ok with either one.....?????????????..leaning towards tacoma......

I have a 18 ft Ranger with a 150 on it and tow it with a 2000 Tacoma with a V6. Never had a problem with it yet.

I have an 06 Tacoma Dcab with the V-6 3" lift and 33" tire pull a 16' Skinny Water and need to costantly watch in the mirror to make sure the boat is still there. My total weight is no where near the 2700# make but it pulls fine and you are right on the durable part.
