Howdy everybody,
I'm heading down near Austin this weekend for a concert, and I was thinking about fishing the San Gabriel and Brushy Creek near Round Rock on Sunday. Does anyone have tips for me about where to fish? I'll be wading, so paddling is not an option for me. I don't really care what I'll catch, I'd just like to break the fly rod out for a little bit. Also, if you have any fly suggestions of recommended tactics, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Steve, I went last week and the San Gabriel fished real well; however flooding turned Brushy into blown out mess. Might be back in shape by the weekend, but my guess it's turbid. Check in with Living waters Fly Shop for the Rio getter- as that fly tore 'em up. See full story here: http://ultralightflyfishing.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=9632Les

Thanks for the tip, also that fishing report helped a ton great photos! I'm not sure if we'll have time to stop by the shop on Saturday, but I can probably pick up some similar flies from Orvis here in Plano (I work part time there). Chris said he's expecting the water to be clearing up by the weekend, and is pretty hopeful for a great day. I'll just be happy to hook up with anything really, should be fun.

Steve I went down town round rock and fished the bridge area and water looked ok. I was throwing a black beetle and catching some large bluegill on a 2 wt. There were some bass in the water but didn't have a lot of time to fish. It was where the actual round rock is in the water. I don't know the street name, but I bet someone can chime in.
