Thinking about getting a bass buster to use on the small lake by my house. Never owned a boat before and don't want to get in over my head. Just looking some input/ info from someone who has experience with these boats. Thanks

I've had one just about my entire life. Great boats that can go just about anywhere you can get the truck close too. I've only had 8'ers and they can fish two people, (its tight but easily doable)
I never had an outboard on my just a 12v trolling motor (get a GOOD battery)

I started out with a basstender, and we enjoyed it. The only problem is once you start there, you'll always be looking to upgrade! I've upgraded twice since starting out.

I am just about to wear out my 3rd one. Have been fishing out of them for over 30 years. A few years ago I decided it was time to own a "real bass boat". I bought a good used boat, had if for about 6 months and sold it. Just like the little boat better. No, I can't go all over the lake but I can easily fish several miles of shoreline and that is good enough for me. And, I get a lot better gas mileage than the big boats. LOL
As already stated, battery, trolling motor (would suggest 40 lb. thrust), an oar to be on the safe side and you are good to go.
You will never regret the day you get one.

I have the Basstender 11.3 and absolutely love it. I can tell you that one foot in length makes a huge difference so go larger if you can. The 8s are a tight squeeze. I use mine quite a bit. They can be great fun on small bodies of water. Edited..... I just remembered I have a friend selling one. You can see it in the classified ads at www.privatewaterfishing.com

I fish from a hobie kayak now,but me and my father in law fish out of a two man bass buster and it is a great way to go. We used it for many years and you can go any where you can get you truck close to the water. Get a good Marine battery and most any decent trolling motor, and you can fish most any where.

I could have a big boat but prefer my bass hunter.
Easy breezy access to good water that guys overlook.
Do it you won't regret it.
Check out the pond boat section in here for tons of info!

I have never fished out of a bass buster type boat, but I have been thinking about getting a big sit on top Kayak just for the heck of it. Looks like fun to me. Hobie makes some good ones and Jackson Kayaks has one they call the Big Rig.

I used one for a long time on a small pond. After a while it developed a crack at the seam between the top deck and bottom and wouldn't stay fixed. I had to scrap it and went to a 15' tin boat which I still have. (in addition to my fibergalss boat).

Used one on a 45 acre watershed lake we lease in Kansas. Had a ball with it, only issue I ever had was getting a little rowdy on the hook set and tipping my seat over backwards. This was 30 years ago so I'm guessing they have a little better seating now. Kept putting bigger trolling motors on till we all went to aluminum boats. But they are a ball to fish out of and being that close to the water and the fish is a treat.

8' Bass Buster was my first boat. My Dad and brother had one too. We had a lot of fun and caught a lot of fish out of them. You fish more than worrying about the fish being somewhere else... We fished Fork a lot in them, even though my Dad had a big boat.
