Hey Folks...

My parents will be visiting from Hawaii this September to visit our daughter who is set to be born in mid-September. I wanted to start planning ahead to do some fishing with my dad while he is in town. He does a lot of shoreline saltwater fishing back home. The last time he was in town we did some catfishing at our local ponds as well as taking a guided catfishing trip up in Dallas while we were visiting my wife's family. We'll be exclusively in the Houston area this time around. Outside of our usual local ponds...I'm thinking about potentially traveling out to Lake Conroe, Sommerville & possibly Fayetville reservoir areas (basically anywhere within a day's trip from Katy, TX). Unless we decide to go with a guide...we'll be primarily looking to fish from the shorelines. I was looking to see if I could get some information as to what types of action would be ideal during that time frame so I can start doing the proper research on our target specie(s) and/or location(s). If anyone has any suggestions...please let me know.

Thanks!

Kawika

September is normally the start of the red run on the coast.

How about Rayburn, about 3.5 hrs from Katy? Fishing is usually good and the water and weather is good too.

We went last end of September beg of October, it was really beautiful.

September is a great time to get on the water. School is back in, lakes are not as crowded and guys chasing doves and getting ready to hunt. And you usually can chase schoolies across most lakes.

Ill be on Rayburn first few weekends in Sept.

Fayette is an awesome lake but shoreline access is limited and most of the fish are on structure. So no boat and u might catch a few, with a boat it can be crazy good.

I would suggest Cat Fish Killer guide service at Lake Conroe, he has a pontoon, reasonable rates and will take you jug fishing. Sounds like fun to me.
