I'm interested in hearing why you should stay away from FRAM Filters. Just curious.

That is almost like asking what type of battery to buy.
My honest opinion--Fram is good. Any name brand filter will do a good job when serviced regularly.

Fram has inferior media compared to other brands. Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com type in Fram on a search. I saw a Fram filter cut open next to Wix that was cut and the difference was undeniable. The Fram media was flimsy and thin compared to the Wix.

Dave, I agree. And I have seen the inside of a FRAM and a WIX. Though the media material looks different the filtering of the oil is what counts. I know that FRAM made some changes about 8-10yrs ago to make their filter better. I will say WIX is made for HEAVY DUTY application. But for the everyday driver FRAM does just fine.

I have neveer heard anything good about them, and I just think it is funny that they list three diferent sizes of filter for the same exact truck in their book at wallmart.

Stay away from Fram oil filters I worked at the parts house for 4 years and Im ASE certified. Use Delco on GM, Motorcraft on F.M.Co and Wix on anything else (including GM and F.M. Co) You don't need the extra worries, just use the right stuff and be happy, lol..

There's nothing wrong with the FRAM XG2. It has the anti-drainback valve. With filters installed in the horizontal position it keeps the oil from draining back into the oil pan and channels. Stops dry-start.
With filters installed in the vertical position, it keeps oil from draining from the channels.
You really have to keep an eye on filters these days, WIX could be manufacturing Motorcraft and/or Fram at some point in time....and vice versa...
Life is funny - ain't it...
