I'm gonna rebuild the rear end in my truck this week. It's a 10 bolt chevy 8.5" ring gear. Im going to 3.73:1 gears, from 3.08:1 Make it a little easier to pull with the V6. 1994 chevy 1/2 ton. What's the backlash supposed to be? What about the turning torque of the pinion?
Thanks, Cyrus

Well according to service information, you check the roataing torque before you take it apart and then add 3-5 lbs to that measurement to retorque it during assembly,as far as backlash the spec is 0.005-0.007 in. also want to run a pattern when you get it setup to check your runout.Hope this helps.

well, i know your supposed to run the pattern and all that... But my torque will be very low when i pull it out. (i'm going in with a new ring and pinion and new bearings along with new crush sleeve) my old bearings have a lot of slack to say the least. Thanks for the back lash settings.
