This afternoon I went out to check my favorite lakes on the grasslands, after the awesome refreshing
Rain God provided us yesterday.

Clear Lake is Full

Black Creek Lake is Full

The twin Cottonwood Lakes:
Big Cottonwood is out of its banks, the boat Launch is flooded you can only get about
Half way down the road that goes to he boat ramp. The overflow is under water, I observed
A small but powerful whirlpool directly over the location of the overflow intake. The water
Discharge On the backside of the damn sounds like a class v rapid. Please be very careful
If you fish Big lake anytime soon, in the 45 years I have been going to this lake this is the worst I
Have seen it.

Little Cottonwood.
It is full and out of its banks.

I will post further reports in the thread I started by the same name in the Fly a Fishing section.
Check back there.

Terry

How low were the ponds before the rain? Were they dry or near dry? Thanks

Checked Cottonwood lake this morning. Boat ramp has about 4 to 5ft of ramp out of the water. Still muddy.

still no fishing reports from any of them? I wouldn't mind an awesome trip to clearlake or black creek but don't want to drive all the way over there to get skunked like I could over here hahaha

I took pics of Clear Lake when the water was down.

I know where every stump and bush is now.

I was talking to a guy at church yesterday morning and he said that there were a bunch of fish floating belly up at Cottonwood about a week or so ago. I have not tried to fish it since the rain and since hearing that I probably won't fish it for a while. I was at Little Cottonwood last Wednesday night and saw lots of fish surfacing.

Shoot, only matters if it was big fish and bass! lol

I may just have to make a trip soon and see what I can turn up...

...then again, hard to justify the trip with other closer lakes that haven't been harmed, and also with a trip that far from home, other lakes I'd rather go explore that I haven't been on

Talked to a guy that lives near clear lake, and he said he heard there was a fish kill at Cottonwood?
