Touch 7 is getting close to that price - I love my touch screens!

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I would buy either brand with side scan and down imaging. However, buy the biggest screen you can afford. To me, a 5 inch screen is not worth for side imaging. The screen is too small. I would some time missed the white dots that would be fish, so i upgraded to a bigger screen. You can find some pretty good price in the forum if you dont mind a used one. There are pros and cons of each brand, but I went with Humminbird unit because I wanted a Minn Kota I-pilot to communicate with my Sonar with Lakemaster chip. The Minn Kota Ulterra is next on my list.

Also, I wouldn't be afraid to buy used from someone on here versus new allowing you to get the maximum size screen. I wouldn't consider any of the touch units simply because to stay in your price range you have to stay with a smaller screen. Size matters!

Y'all think the 7 inch touch screen should be ok on the console?
Not trying to high jack your post. Just curious myself, about to purchase
A unit myself.
Touch 7 has dropped some

Are you adding to your setup? Meaning, are you going to dedicate it to side imaging and use your other units for GPS, sonar, etc? If so, then I think the 7 will be fine....if this will be your only unit, it's too small to run multiple features on at one time (SI/DI or SI/sonar, etc). If this is the case, save up for a few more months and buy you one with a larger screen. Don't forego the touch option though....it's the best!
