I am going down to austin and I am buying a 12ft jon boat. I will have to drive it back to dallas with it on the roof of my car. the roof is 8ft long. How do I put it on the roof secure and where it won't screw up the roof?

the main thing is not to put anything under it that will scratch or rub the paint off the roof.

maybe some pillows, soft foam not styrofoam. tie the front and back to bumpers and maybe a couple places threw the middle, might have to go threw windows, probably no danger of it raining.I dony know how much air it will catch.

Dont get the wrong opinion of me. My wife drove to our local fishing hole today with a can of stink bait that my son tied to the roof of her truck.

You will need to go to academy and buy some of the foam pads that you use to strap kayaks/canoes to the top of a car. Tie down the bow and stern to the front and rear bumpers, and the center through the windows as well. I wouldnt drive over 65mph with it. Good Luck!

tie it sidways and just fly home...hehe. Home depot has some insulation that is split down one side... its for insulating pipes.... it would work good onthe edges of the boat that contact the car.... Drive safe and slow!! You are gonna be anxious to get home...
