Acts like its starving for fuel. Rough idles, drop the gas it goes after a few times
and it runs great.

Changed the bulb, the water separator, and the fuel filter
under the hood. I just noticed air in the top of the fuel bulb
under the cowling where the filter is, so I loosened it and pump
the bulb to get the air out.

Ive read ALOT of horror stories about HPDI's, hoping this is minor.
Its NEVER died on me since I bought it new in May 2009. Gone run it again Monday.

Oh, and I just pulled the throttle body/intake off and noticed a good bit if oil
collecting on the edge of the air intakes? Ive read these motors can leak oil from the certain components.

Wondering if its sucking in oil and not wanting to run unless she has the RPM's to blow it thru..

Change the filter in the VST.

Yep pick up pumps.

You can get the rebuild kits for like $12 each or they sell new pump assy as well.

Might as well do a complete filter change while your at it.

Easy to do them all yourself in a couple of hours.

or clean it. at least take a look at it.

Going to change the low pressure fuel pumps. Boat runs greats, dies on idle.

VST filter is inside the VST tank on the Port side of the motor.

Gott to take out the 6-8 screws around the top of the tank and lift the top off. The vst filter is mounted on the bottom and turns 90 degrees and pulls off. Really I would replace instead of clean, just cause of what you have to do to get to it.

When you put it all back together make sure the O-Ring seal is straight and clean when you put the housing back together.
about a 30 min job.

The manual recommends replacing o ring on the vst it will expand when you take it out to work it's not a hard job just did mine last weekend remember to bleed fuel out of tank

put the o-ring in a baggie and put it in the freezer while you clean the screen. then put vasoline in the groove and reinstall the o-ring.

Changed both low pressure fuel pumps, and the VST screen. The VST screen was dirty.

Runs like a top now. I think it was gel from ethonal.

i've got a 02 200 hpdi with 1000 hrs. i've fought fuel problems for 13 yrs. it's been a good strong engine other than the picky fuel habits, but i'll never own another. shopping for a F200 now.
