Getting my first sonar unit HB 998HD SI and was just wondering what ya guys like. Navionics or lakemaster. Will be fishing mostly north Texas lakes. I have zero experience with map cards in a sonar unit so any help is appreciated.

Lakemaster is good for HB because there is a water level adjustment feature you can use so the chart will match what the depthfinder is reading.

I have both, neither is perfect. I think the Navionics maybe more detailed at times. I like it better when trying to learn Ray Hubbard, Lewisville and Texoma, but I always end up with Lakemaster back in, because of the water depth and options to color code a depth range. I can tell lakemaster, the lake is -8' and also to highlight area that are 30-35' deep.
I hate to state the obvious, but make sure Lakemaster has the lakes you want to fish and then if they are and in HD, then I would go with lakemaster for an HB unit.

I too just got a 998c and went with the Lakemaster card. Very pleased with it on NTX lakes thus far.
Clean up...

What about if you have Lowrance? Navionics better? Or still Lakemaster???
.
How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

If you fish lewisville get a navionics. The lake master is terribly inaccurate on that lake. Aside from that the lake master is cool because if the color settings when the lake gets low.
For instance go check out the gravel pits with a LM. LM was drunk when they scanned it.

The Lakemaster water level adjustment and depth shading is definitely a great feature to have on these texas lakes that fluctuate so much. I wish I had that with Navionics.
