Let us know if you catch anything. Been trying to figure out the magic potion. I went for 2 hours last night....threw a black inline spinner and caught 10+ perch....no bass....

I went again on my lunch break. Caught 2 small bass, but saw a guy fishing across the pond catch about a 3 pounder on his what must have been his 2nd cast.

That was me! I was hoping to eventually walk around the pond to meet you. Saw your truck at a distance, but you had to leave, I'm guessing for work, before I got to you. I was there testing out a new rod I had just purchased that morning; it was a successful test I must say.
The first one on my first cast was 4 lbs and I caught a second bass about an hour later. The second bass weighed 3 lbs. Both were caught on a weightless senko. I hope to see you next time!

Weightless senko style baits like txlonghorns said have worked out best for me the last few years, fishing them SLOWLY. 2 twitches and pause, letting it sink and sit. I usually only fish here during the spring however. You can catch multiple 4-5 pounders and possibly one bigger each trip out there. Like I said though, I haven't tried it in the summer. Here's a pic from a good one this past spring.

Spent a couple hours at the north pond this morning fishing a senko extra slow all the way around the pond. Had hits from what I assume were perch but that's it. My determination to catch one here is fading. If it weren't for the big ones that bankbassin has pulled out I'd probably stop going. Frustrating.

You may have to try evening. I think they come out more later in the day.

I used to fish these two ponds when I lived closer to them. It's been awhile since I have fished them but I found a little something that works all the time. Definately has some big fish there but they are hard to catch other then the spring time. I found them on beds 2 yrs ago and u would be surprised how many 3-5lb bass are in the north lake.pm me and I will help out as much as I can

The wife and I have fished these ponds maybe 8 to 10 times in the last few months. She's refused to go lately when I say I want to fish them because she's only caught one fish in all the times we've been there. I've maybe caught 8 bass and two small cats (on accident while targeting bass, both very small). They're tough ponds for us, but I feel compelled to try them again and again. Partly because I've seen the pictures of the big fish caught and partly because they are close to home and easy to head out to after work. The fish in the picture was the best I've caught out of there and the only fish I've landed in the north pond. I've missed a few others in the north pond and had something that felt fairly large snap my line, but all my other fish have been on the south side. They do get a whole lot of pressure.

I actually had a break through at the north pond on Tuesday night. After getting some tips on what to throw and how to fish. I had forgotten that I switched out my line on my baitcasters to heavier test because of a trip I made to lake Konawa to fish some reeds. I ended up switching over to my spinning reel, which I haven't used in awhile. It's got 8 pound flouro on it. I don't know if it was the time of day or if the lighter tackle had something to do with it but I finally ended up catches three bass. Biggest was probably 1.5 pounds but I was just happy to catch ANYTHING at that point. Was using smaller hooks, t-rigged 4.5 inch roboworm for the first two, then switched over to a 4 inch senko (so I could cast a little better) and caught the biggest one. The only problem with the lighter gear is if I hook into one of the bigger fish in there. Even if a get broken off, it'll still be fun! All the bass I caught out of there had that really bronze looking belly like the pic above. Different color than most of the bass I catch. They must be laying down in that moss/algae on the bottom.

I was on the south pond tuesday night and only caught one very small bass on a senko. I drove over to the north pond, but there were too many fisherman there already. You were probably one of them, Robmoe.

You're right, that fish does have a very odd bronze color on it's belly.
My dad brought me up fishing with baitcasters. That's all I know. I've only tried to cast a spinning reel a handful of times. My wife just caught the fishing bug recently and prefers a spinning reel. Is there an advantage to spinning reels in certain situations?

I usually fish with baitcasters as well. If I'm going to be throwing something really light, like that weightless roboworm I will switch over to spinning.

I fished here last night....from 7-915ish....had one real bite and that's it. I threw everything from topwater to weightless to Trig and Jigs....cranks and spinners....nada!!!
I know there's fish there because I saw about a 4lb-er floating dead!!
Hopefully one of these days I will hook into something of size here. I can't imagine I will continue to visit if I can't catch anything.
***Spinning reels help with casting and are easier for beginners. Some people prefer to fish with them but not me unless I'm fishing for larger fish because they actually help with larger fish IMO. Good luck.
