I have a ten foot surf fishing pole I have used twice. I used it this weekend in pa. Went to take it apart and could do it. My 35 year old son and I together could not get it undone. Is there a way to get it apart?

use rubber bands wrapped around the pole on both sides where you want a good grip.Let your son take one side you the other. You get a better grip on the pole. Then both of you twist and pull at the same time.

My buddy had one stick and he took it to a rod shop, they wrapped it with masking tape and pulled and twisted like heck for a while until it came apart. The secret is to add something to give you a firmer grip, and take two people to pull it apart.
After you get it apart, use bow string lube to keep it from happening again. I actually use Burt's Bees wax lip balm or what ever it is , works good too.

I would let the afternoon sun heat it up for an hour or two. Then try to pull straight apart. Twisting is when you'll crack the laminates.

I have tried probably 6-7 different ways, but this works best, every time, 100%
First, wash & soak the joint in hot freshwater for about an hour. Rinse it off & place the joint in ICE for about 30 minutes. Remove & seperate in your usual manner, should come right apart. DO NOT try to use the stripper guide as a lever,, as you'll just tear it off & have to repair the rod Here's another tip- the very, very best ferrule lube is right under your nose, literally! The oil/grease that gathers @ the base of your nose has proven itself to be the perfect lubricant- not too oily, not too waxy, not susceptible to temperature. Don't take my word for it, google it! or better yet try it. just don't do it where your family can see you, or you'll be the one who's "stuck", LoL!!!

lite-liner hit it on the nose! My uncle taught me that trick when I was a kid and it's been working ever since.
I'm not an actor, but I play one on TV.

Be sure to use the grease from the OUTSIDE of your nose !
