I fish to get away from the funeral home for a while. Sometimes it gets so busy I get overwhelmed...

I can get more [censored] situated in my head in 30 minutes on the deck of my boat compared to all day at work.

When i'm on the deck of my boat everything is right. To see the sun break over the hills at Sardis or McGee at first light is spiritual. Nothing better that being on the deck of my boat on a cool/crisp spring morning or watching the sunset on a late summer day.

It is a release from the everyday hustle and bustle. Relaxation. Having been an athlete for many years and a coach for many more. I find that tournament fishing gives me that competitive edge I miss. Although when I was playing, I felt more in control of things. Main thing it does is relieve the tensions of life.

I used to fish to forget things, work, pissed off at wife whatever. I'm very thankful to have the job I do but it takes up so much time its get hard to get a way and enjoy the solitude. Phone/email/text it never stops days off/vacations are sometimes a joke.

In about 4 yrs or so I am going to retire from the Corp sales job I have. I may start a tractor service around Rayburn, build driveways and grind stumps. My luck I would end up busy and still couldn't fish !!.

I'm gonna retire and grind my stump too some day. And when I get that done I'm gonna go fishin'.

To excise, to stay fit.

LOL, not fishing, but reminds me of a few times I went "boating/tubing" on a friends boat. There was little time for relaxing.
Cuss fest from him. Cuss the wife, the kids. the other boats. Launching to loading.
The tubing and beer was good though.

I just like to fish.

I have to hide the problem I have with fishing..we are going to broken bow next sunday and stay til the following weekend, a fish vaca just for me, the girlfriend and her entire fam is going. Conversation yesterday..me,"so we're not leaving until sunday at noon right?" Her,"yes thats right." Me,"Ok me and the guys are going to the lake cabin Friday and Saturday I will be back in time Sunday." She looks at me with a blank stare before she says,"So you want to go fishing before you go fishing" shakes her head and walks out of the room.
I have to to keep from losing it over what the elitist politicians are doing to our great country

Fishing is therapy!!

I Love fishing mainly because it so peaceful and watch the sun come up a daybreak on the boat.

I used to fish a lot more when I lived in town surrounded by neighbors, hustle bustle, and an hour or more away. Now that I live in the sticks a few miles from the ramp I can get the same solitude on my front porch. So I guess a lot of my fishing has been to get out in open spaces. Now I can pick and choose the best time for a trip.... after work or whenever, but go less.
