I have a 1199si and a 997si and a minkota terova with Ipilot and us2 I need to know how to link it all together I have the TM mount for the 997 ducer if I need to use it on the TM I can but would prefer to just pull the sonar from the us2 and DI/SI from the 1199 ducer off the transom is this possible or do I need to just run the 997 ducer and forget about the us2 link

It is not Ethernet capable. You will need another Ethernet capable unit to replace it to have two displays in the setup. The iPilot link is an Ethernet connection. The US2 is a direct transducer connection. You can change the Transducer Select in the unit menu to either US2 or Dual Beam and use the US2 transducer. The 997 would be a 2D-only unit then.

I am going to post this just for the sake of the TFF. I have a new 999 and during my last trip out I noticed the contour lines were missing from my Navionics maps. I checked all the settings and could not find a setting for turning on the contours.
The answer was related to customizing the map content. I had gone into the charts tab and selected the custom setting so I could turn on the "nature of seabed" option to show the creek channels. I had also hidden several options that I didn't think I needed. One of those was "drying lines". FYI, drying lines mean contour lines. Not sure why HB would call them drying lines.

I have a question concerning a H-bird 899si I purchased in February 2014. I love the unit and im impressed with its capabilities, but I don't seem to be getting as clear of images as the ones I see posted on here. This is what i can tell about my unit , I had it installed by a qualified guy that was doing maintenance on my boat (2002 Seeter SX 190) and when I picked it up after the install I noticed the transducer was not level it seemed to be a few degrees angled up when I asked about it he said that's the way they like to install the transducers . I have used the unit multiple time since the install and have watched all the videos I could find to fine tune the set up but it still produces a grainy image. What prompted me to ask this question on the transducer is could this be causing my quality problems . I was idling past 515 bridge at fork with the unit set at 75' feet both directions and the bridge pilings were slanted forward.

The face of the SI transducer should be parallel with the water's surface when scanning at idle speed. Most boats have a bow up attitude when using the outboard at idle speed. If the bridge pilings are displayed tilted the transducer is not tilted enough. The sonar pulse should be directly vertical. The best way to set the angle is the shadows of vertical subjects should be horizontal on the display. If you don't use another transducer for on-plane depth readings, then the transducer has to be adjusted for high speed use and not for correct images. This is one setup incorrectly:

This is one setup incorrectly: Wayne I am using a shoot thru the hull transducer for depth readings , although at idle speed 3 mph it don't seem like the nose lifts at all full load up front tackle and gear. I will just play with the adjustments up and down and see what happens. thanks Wayne Fred

I just did enough adjustment to create the effect as an example.

Quick question...
Picked up my boat Saturday. Hit Cedar Creek Sunday. Having a problem with the Onix losing track of the bottom at random times. I'm betting it's because the transducer needs adjustment. How should it be mounted?
I didn't receive a owners manual or anything with the unit.

Go to Humminbird.com and look up the Onix unit under products. You should see a link under "support" to download the installation guide and owner's manual. It will help a lot. I mounted my Onix transducer on the same bracket as my old HDSI transducer. The front part is about 1/8" under the hull, the back part is 3/4" under.

One more problem popping up with my bird. It will randomly shut down/crash while I'm running.
I've checked the power cable and it's solid. But the unit acts like it's losing power as it just goes black.

Today went out to do some fishing…..my 1199 started up fine and got to the point where you press exit to go the the screen….as SI/DI was coming up, unit went black. Now when I start the unit up, it goes light greenish/blackish….little bummed….just got this a month ago. Any ideas what's going on? Fuse is good, connections are good….power connectors are good….downloaded the most recent software when I first got it.
