Find some milfoil grass near the main lake and work a texas rigged watermelon worm through it.. Dont be afraid to go shallow in the summer on LBJ if your in the milfoil.. If the waves (from the ski boats) are pounding the walls (near homes) around the lake throw a white spinnerbait against the walls and slow roll it.. The water beating the walls creates oxygen and the fish seem to like it.. I never catch anything huge this way but you can catch 1-2 pounders in the middle of summer..
Last spring some high school kids in a big tournament tore them up throwing a umbrella rig in some of the canals.. I doubt that would work this time of year but you never know..
If anyone else has any ideas please speak up.. I love fishing LBJ and would like some new ideas..

Might find a stick up or two - but the only structure for LBJ is docks, docks, docks....oh, and an occasional grass bed (small)
Deeper into summer, the further you have to get the bait under the dock, so hope you can skip.

Was out there yesterday. Fished the lights at night to get away from jet skis, etc. Great numbers, no size. Found a couple in creeks and coves mid-lake. This was the best of the day / night.
"Slow ahead." I can go slow ahead. Come on down here and chum some of this [censored].

Swim jig in the river weeds usually works, if not a Senko on a light TX rig on the grass edges should do the trick. Main thing, fish your confidence techniques and you will catch fish if not you will learn.

we fished there one evening last week and had 20+ fish. Main lake points with grass in the evening produced with frog, topwater and plastics. Overall though the small Yum money minnow is still hard to beat out there. Ran the dock lights till midnight and had a blast. One would have big whites and the next would be all largemouth. A lot of 2-3#rs.

There isn't much grass up the Colorado but there are deep docks. Fish the bridge pillars with a wacky rig(no wake zone btw), hit the deep docks with a shaky head trick worm. There is river weed beds that will produce too, I like Zoom Horny Toads, or a white swim jig. Fish early or late evening into the night if possible because you will be rocking all day from the wakers.

The wife and I went out Saturday on the main lake.. We got a early start and probably caught our first fish at 0620.. We caught a total of 5 fish and the last was at 0915.. They totally quit after that.. The biggest I caught was a 4.91.. She came out of the water three times and that was a pretty sight but she did not have much pull.. The wife and I figured she was a very old bass because it looked like she might have weighed 8 pounds at one point.. Very long fish but very skinny.. Pic of her below: Next was a 2.41.. The other three were 1.5 or less.. All fish were caught on white spinnerbaits in 5 feet of water.. All of them were around milfoil covered areas.. I tried a wacky rig when we came to a dock.. We even tried the wacky and Texas rigged worm on a tree with no luck.. We called it a day at 1100.. The traffic on the main lake was crazy after 0930..

Fishing has been kind of hit or miss. Best success is fishing inside the milfoil early early then dropping soft plastics on the outside edges after the sun starts getting warm. If you can skip docks, get far underneath and bring your senko's, etc. back really slow. Dead sticking almost for presentation. Jet ski's are tough right now. I usually get off the lake by 10 a.m. Going to see if this full moon can produce some big girls out the tonight.
