Yeah, just keep your braid on. If you're going to be trolling with your rods in a rod holder, remember to loosen your drag some. You won't have that mono stretch to act as a shock absorber. The only thing worse than breaking a rod on a good fish, is breaking one snagging a tree.

Excellent thank you all very much great feedback and knowledge on here. Im going to keep one reel set up with braid and the other set up on 12lb big game. Im hoping to get the best of both worlds.

Mike Good plan. Please post a follow up reporting water clarity/tackle type used and any differences in hookups/landing fish with 30lb braid vs 12lb BG.

I fish there allot and run 30lb braid on all of my reels. I tie a 6in-3ft 20lb mono or flouro leader though. When I use to troll, I just tied straight to braid and then my trailer was tied to mono or flouro.
I use to use 12lb green big game all of the time and thinking of switching back on a few reels. When I am live bait fishing, I would like a little bit of stretch sometimes. I think the fish feel the line tighten up and spit the hook before I have time to react with the braid.
