Water very stained and ranged from 78 degrees in the morning to 90 degrees in the middle of the day all over the lake. Fishing was not on fire but steady. Weightless Senkos-any dark color off of pier edges as well as bank cover from 2 ft of water to 8ft during the heat of the day.
Black N Blue Chigger Craws pitching in the reeds caught a few of the bigger fish.
Red-Eye Shad-Creme or chrome off of main lake points in the morning. Would find piers off of or near points and work them with plastics until we would see shad scatter off of the point then nail them with Red-Eye.
Shad population looked very,very healthy.

And only had to "buzz the tower" of a jet-skier once with the Little George I had loaded just for that purpose. Overall the recreational boaters were polite and minded their own business.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an un-scarred and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways holding a 10# LMB in one hand and your favorite rod and reel in the other, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!

Good report, thanks. Don't know if you fish Murvaul often but on it's best day it's still very stained. That little lake can produce some big bass.

Been fishing Murvall all my life and yes you are correct....it stays stained. Growing up on that lake spoiled me with respect to fishing piers and boat docks. There are some big fish on that lake and I have been lucky enough to catch a couple. I dont live there anymore but I make it up there 4-5 times a year and all my spots still hold fish.

I also fished 7/3-7/5 with my dad. I don't know what it was about 7/3 but we caught so many fish I almost lost count. We had 38 on 7/3 and then 12-15 on Friday and Saturday. I think boat traffic on Friday and Saturday had something to do with it. Like you we caught most of our fish on docks and flipping reeds. Shaky head was the ticket for us on docks and an Okeechobee craw beaver in the reeds. We did catch a few on a frog each morning, but it was a pretty early bite and we didn't get many but they were good fish. During the 3 days we had 3 over the slot and several 3-5lbers in the slot. I love Big Murv.

They're big crappie in Murvall too. I think every time I've sat under Dotson bridge someone hauls in a 5 or 6 pound bass on a crappie jig. It just produces good fish.

Murvall has really turned around after the slot was put in place and restocking, getting back to some nice fish like it did in it's hayday! Always been one of my favorites, sure wish I could get back over there more often.

I am not making any decisions until the bourbon kicks in!
