I'm in galveston for the first time and I'm staying in a condo around san Luis toll road looking for a place to walk out and try for a few reds or trout is there any place close by I tried the surf and got 1 whiting on poping cork I didn't bring much tackle but now I want to fish lol I should of known better anyways thanks for any advice

We are at Point West this week as well. Took kayaks out this morning in the bay. It's shallow enough to walk out. Need good water shoes though. I caught 1 legal speckled trout and lots of bites. Wife caught a nice gaftop. I am wanting to get into the red though myself. May have to hit the bait shop if I don't have the correct tackle.
