I'm was talking with a guy at Lake Fork this weekend and he had a dough bait that he made and said it had peanut butter, garlic powder, cattails and other stuff in it. It did not stink to high heaven like most catfish baits and he had two buckets full of cats.

I'm trying to find a recipe for such a bait. Does anyone have a good one that works well and does not stick to high heaven?

Thanks,

Yes, PM me and I will send you one that I have used and it works. But unless you are hard core catfishing The good proven bait makers and sellers are the way to go.

I knew a guy who made a dough bait using cottonseed meal as a base. It worked pretty well and didn't stink. The only drawback was it would also catch carp.

Yep. My granddad used to mix up something that had cottonseed meal and flour in it. He'd put it in a sock and boil it for a while and then knead it with more white flour after it'd cooled some. He'd add anise oil(licorice scent) to it as the final thing. When I was a kid we'd pay $2 to fish off the dock at Scotty's West Bay on EM and we'd bring home a lot of catfish.

Stubby has a good recipe. I have not tasted it to see what is in it yet.
