Just wondering if any one has been up to Lake Mineral Wells lately for crappie? How good has it been?

I used to fish it a lot. grew up in Weatherford. Your better off going to Weatherford lake and hitting the docks of the barge in my opinion.

I have fished MW some lately and found fish but not in large numbers. Talked to a few people that have been caughting some shallow, 6-9 fow. I normally fish 10-12 fow this time of year with jigs but, I think minnow are doing better right now. My go to jig for this lake is a Slab Bandit Texas Toast, my last trip a red/ chart was getting some good hits. Hope this helps some.

Nice white crappie in that lake. Scan the spillway and hit those piles there.

No the ramp is closed, however you can walk to the island on dry ground. The lake is very low. I was surprised to find out the recent rains had virtually no effect.

I thought I heard someone mention you could almost wade the lake...so I didn't bother to venture that far...
