I have installed the fish finder listed above and it works ok. I do not get much across the DI page and the sonar page always has a thick red layer that shows for the 1st 3 feet of water. I have read info on sonardoctor and it shows what is good but not how to set it up. I understand settings need to change with the conditions but still need a good starting point. This is the first DI unit I have ever had and the nicest sonar I have ever had. Im sure that I do not have it set to offer the benefits it can provide. It is mounted on a 94 procraft fish & ski and I had to mount the transducer higher than normal due to the body shape of the back of the boat. It comes out of the water at speeds as low as 15 mph and stops reading water depth. If I mount it on the next step down where the drain plug is it will be the lowest point of the boat. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you.

200 800 Everything on Automatic If transducer is in good position, you will keep sonar, but lose DI at higher speeds Call me if I can help - Rob @ 817-319-1194

I have the same issue with my elite 7 hdi, mine is mounted about where yours is, and I lose all reading at around 8 miles an hour.

I've got hds ducers mounted on the step next to the plug on my Javelin, not much protection but I haven't hit them yet. I get good images and it reads at wide open. Do you have the correct transducer selected in the installation menu? I see a lot of people miss this when installing their units and it does effect performance.

I think I am going to mount mine on the lower step, seems to be the more popular spot. I do have my transducer selected properly on my unit.
