I have never fished from one, they are for racing around the lake and annoy fishermen. But I noticed some trying to fish around an island, no wind okay, but they could not really fish well. Boat control didn't seem to have any. Would be better to just run up on the bank and fish from the bank.
My kids like those things so I rent them at the marina for them to use. To troll in a lake I have a Lund that is perfect with a front TM and planer boards, etc and I can also fish spots, that I have to hold over. You need to get a boat that was made for fishing, IMHO.

A key feature of a fishing boat is the trolling motor ... used to easy along, maneuver into tight places (like between boat houses), etc. How are you going to do that with a jet ski?

This has been an interesting discussion. I've often thought a properly rigged jetski would be a fun way to navigate the backwater areas of Galveston, Christmas, or Matagorda bay. Anchor, jump off, and wade fish to your heart's content!

Fishmagnet you can rig one up to fish what ever your into. Guys have them rigged for the Ocean, bayous and what ever you fish. I am rigged up to chase fish on my lake but there is a guy that fishes Chesapeake Bay. Mine is almost 11' long so it handles fine. I drop anchor and fish with the rest of the party. Most people are cool to me. Some take my picture and ask about my fishing rack. I can only think of one fisherman that was kind of well Grumpy towards me. I am sure I was not his only victom. It takes just minutes to remove my gear and rack.

This is ironic. I was just looking at jet ski's on craigslist and said to myself it would be neat to fish out of one
