I live on a lake and usually throw out about 4 cups of pellets on shoreline. Some pellets sink and some float. It is amazing how quick the channel cat come to the floating bait and swim along the surface scooping the pellets up. Usually 15 to 20 come within 3-5 minutes. Neighbor says you can never catch more than one of them as they get wise. Wonder what the real deal is?

Something you might want to try is, searching for rigs using pellets as baits. It can be done and just might fool those skittish cats.

I have fish feeders on two tanks at the ranch, you can catch fish all day long when you feed them. It may be different on a lake, but the grand kids, tear them up.

Put a small popper about the size of the pellets on a fly rod.

How much difference is there between Purina Catfish Pellets and normal dog food? I was thinking about bringing dog food the next time we rent a lake house for an extended weekend.

I have a pond stocked with channel cat it's the same for me. When you catch the first one the rest are gone. And if you catch are try to catch one every time you feed them they will stop coming to the top and just wait on it to sink.
