Many of the topwater reports talk about sunrise ... But in general is there every a consistent topwater bite at sunset ?

From my personal experience it is significantly better for the first hour of light. However, I have seen them several times at Texoma on top until around 10:00am.
I have not seen anything I would call consistent at sunset, but it has certainly happened.

Short answer...no. On cloudy, overcast days they can school all day...on bright sun in warm months almost never.

On the North banks it can start about 30 minuets b4 Sunset. On the south banks. It's seems to be only after the sun goes completely down. But there is a consistent sundown bite it just doesn't last long.

Depends on the time of year. Back in late April I caught this striper schooling over by Caney Creek. After watching big persistent swirls coming to my boat, I turned off my engine and tossed a two jig one crankbait rig into the nearest swirl. As it sank several stripers grabbed it. I got one it. I've caught them in years past along the rocky bank by Eisenhower in the early evening chasing shad on the surface. It was on calm days with big schools of gizzards right on the surface. I do not have a clue how you know when this happens but it was not in the morning. I think the morning topwater bite is more consistent and something you can depend on most of the time. At PK, there is morning topwater action at Neeely Slough most mornings where my lake house overlooks. Most of the time its just sandbass but you can tell when its stripers because the swirls are much bigger and the snowy egrets and blue herons swarm over the action taking injured shad from the surface.

Big pencil poppers, black and silver and blue and silver. I have been fishing Texoma since 1982. I had a friend that guided on Texoma and drove from Kansas to do it. I have seen and caught stripers on the surface from daylight until dark. About any time of the year or time of day. One thing has to be present and that is shad. I have seen them on the surface from oilwells to dam or 377 bridge. They can come up anytime anywhere.
