Are you asking about hard wired lights inside the boat or more along the lines of portable lights?

This may sound silly but Saturday night I took out a workbench light that runs off of my drills batteries and it worked great. It was 130 lumens so probably a bit overkill. The only issue I had was it attracted bugs which in turn attracted all of the bats .

Lots of different manufacturers now. Looks like all of them are LED strips that you replace your 'rub rail' rubber with. Look fairly easy to install.
Sorry, don't have any on my rig....don't really trust myself with recovering the boat at night so......no LED lights. Look like a really cool idea with little battery drain.
LOL, I remember the 'Styrofoam floating headlight' that hooked to the battery. THEY would drain the battery.
Am thinking of a short strip with red and green to augment the bow lights. MUCH brighter.
God Bless

looking for portable lights.
12v to an extra battery,,,,,,,18v hooked up to portable tool battery.
Just want something to illuminate the banks so we can throw buzz baits without throwing into the bushes or up on someone's boat dock.
I used a Brinkman spotlight last time and it worked OK.
I have a couple of 6v camp lights, but was looking for something with a little more illumination and better design.

Optronics or BPS or Cabelas brand. They make blacklights that are 12v and mount/sit on top of your top cap. They illuminate the bank and no bugs attracted or ruining your night vision.

Also check out HooDoo Electronics. They make ready-made kits with everything you need. Box kits, Nav kits, deck kits etc. They are super bright! I installed the deck light kit and they are awesome.

I added these LEDs this past winter. They work great when retying and rigging rods at night. Don't want to run with them on, as they really hurt your vision of your surroundings. The livewell lights work great for night tournaments and evening jackpots.

I put these on just for night fishing, can see about 50 yds and they are under the rub rail so not visible in the boat.
they draw a few bugs but not like I thought they would, best part is the baitfish love em and twice I have sat and watched the white bass slaughter shad right under the surface.
they work great for casting to banks and letting others see you since they are mounted low they don't blend with shore lights.
