Benbrook has been scattered also. If you don't know the lake it can be really tough at times.

Arlington was pretty rough when I went. Me, I would go to Benbrook, but I know the lake for navigation, not so good at finding, and only been to Aquilla once, but it's a good lake.

Aquilla was tough today. Fished 4 of the 6 corp brushpiles with jigs and minnows. Only caught a few keepers and all those were caught with minnows. First time I have been out in almost a year, so, even though it was hot as heck I still enjoyed getting on the water. I bet the next time will be some night fishing, this heat is for young fellers, not me. Just an FYI, Poorboys Propane sells minnows and they are in the same place the burger joint was in there in Peoria.

...and the water is pretty clear. The day that it came up the last 2 feet, I went over there just to see if the water was muddy as heck. It wasn't, not in the main lake anyways. Saw a friend from long ago there with 2 huge yellow cats caught out of the hackberry creek branch, a 76# and a 62#. He told me it was muddy in the feeder creeks up that way.

That is good to hear, last year when I went the dock on the south side we launched at was on dry land. Hope to find time to fish over there soon. Went to Waco yesterday and only caught one crappie. Fished some timber south of the bridge and the Bridge and one brush pile close to the bridge. Not a good outing for me.

It was tough today too. Caught one up in the trees off a jig. Couldn't buy a bite anywhere else.

OK,went to bb on friday, fished north, south, east & west timber. got a couple bits on jigs. Was thinking the same thing bb or aquilla. I have got to get off bb as I live next door. I love to fish timber. I have only been to aquilla once. I was thinking about sunday am. But aquilla has so much timber that it all looks good where do you start. I am temped to say I have a open back seat, but, have never done that.I all ways fish alone.Have said to myself a lot the last couple of years that I need to find a partner. I see on TTF that a lot of you guys fish together. How do you go about it? I read you guys post almost every day. Yes I AM a TTF ho. Thanks for reading.

When i first started fishing Benbrook for Crappie it was a CHALLENGE! And i am always up for a challenge no matter what! I used to ZERO out there when i first started but now i can almost guarentee at least 5 or more keepers on a bad day. It's all about patience and not staying in one spot too long. If your sitting on one tree for hours at a time. You are missing out. I can find em on trees and cant buy a bite, Move to the other side of the lake and ya cant keep em off the hook! Its a crazy lake like that and there is lot's of Standing timber for them to hide in..
