I'm in Burnet and wondering there's anyone else in the area that flyfishes. I kayak the lakes a lot and never see any other flyrodders. Been catching stripers on the fly below Inks Dam lately and having a blast. 4-8 lbs on a 10 wt in fast water will tire you out fast lol.

I'm down in S.A. (1604 & I35) and typically hit the Guadeloupe above and below Canyon lake via yak or float tube. However, I really like the Buchanan/Inks area but just haven't had the chance to really fish it right, i.e. learning it to the point that I feel like I know what I'm doing. If you have any plans to go and wouldn't mind the company, I'd be delighted to meet up. While I can do weekends, during the week is actually best for me and Ink's state park usually has availability on weekdays. "Have 10 wt., will travel." Thoughts?

In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.

That's awesome! I've fished inks Lake once paddling from the state park. It was nice up there. I'm in nw Austin and always trying to get out to as much water as I can!

I do! I haven't been out on inks though but that sounds like a ton of fun. I live out towards oatmeal if you know where that is haha. Thats a pretty long paddle from the state park I would think though

I typically put in below the dam at a private launch and its about a mile paddle to the dam. I wade in the water while they are generating and its about mid waist deep. Lots of break offs from bigger fish, since I can't chase em. My biggest there is 37 lbs years ago and on conventional tackle. But there are tons of whites and stripers to play with, plus the water is cold when running. Im open any days, so pm me if you feel like going sometime...I have an extra yak that's my girlfriends, I probably should ask before I offer lol.
