Mark Pack or James Caldemeyer are two good Lowrance guys and deep water guys. Holeshot's HDS is what mine look like also. I use the 13 Palette also.

I would suggest you split a trip with someone else interested in learning the same and hire a guide known for deep water fishing and is great with electronics. Might be the best $150-200 you will spend. Either that or find out who your local HB or Lowrance local staff is and meet up with them to learn it. That is what they are there for and if they refuse then keep looking. Those guys should be able and willing to help. If you strike out contact the manufacturer to see who they suggest. Mark is there a guide you could recommend that would be good for this. I have Lowrance HDS-Gen 2 non- touch electronics. I too would be willing to split a trip with someone for this. Pack Caldemayer Redington Vick Hoffman Tanner Rogers Paris Grills Those are just a handful of the guys I would happily pay to learn from. Some other good ones as well. Any of these guys in any particular order are worth the money spent.

I didn't learn it by myself but have applied what I have learned. TOW with Pack is a lot more than just about catching fish. Also Blu Ranger a.k.a. JPeel turned me on the Sonar Professor. After you have a school session you gotta do your homework. Right Blu?

All of the guys mentioned are good. I'd also consider a trip with Clark Reehm on Rayburn. Map study, electronics, classroom and OTW instruction. Plus, Clark is just a helluva nice guy. Super intelligent, too.
Coincidence is His way of remaining anonymous.

This is in pallete # 13. You will get a lime green as the hardest return. That return on sonar tells you that the fish you are looking at has shoulders i.e. largemouth. You can also see the return on the down scan to get an idea of what size white dot you are looking for as well as what kind of grouping in both down scan and sonar. Picture is taken at idle speed. This pic is taken while sitting over the top of them. As you can see you still have the hardest return in the middle of the fish. ( sorry for the orientation but the upload keeps turning the pic) So after seeing this I used color palette 13 when I went out a few days ago and patrolled a lot of deep water. I found plenty of baitfish and a lot of blue and yellow arches, but couldn't find any lime green arches like the one in yhis image. It was on tawakoni, which is known for big hybrid and stripers(I'm assuming should be a like green return as well). Is there some setting or something that needs to be adjusted to get this result? I jusyvfkdntbesny have a hard time believing I went through all of those huge bait balls and didn't run over any bass

Maybe the sensitivity was turned down to low.
