Not much of a report to give but just wanted to give everyone the heads up on the situation down there. Due to high winds the seaweed was still coming in strong and the waves were still big. It says the winds were 15mph there but seemed stronger. Fished the back area at the end of 8 mile road for a bit because my 10 year old niece was hoping to catch her first fish ever. Well it didn't go so well lol. She is visiting till Saturday so I am hoping that the winds calm down by then and the seaweed stops running through Rollover Pass. Haven't been there yet but the guy at the bait shop says that they were still getting pockets of seaweed running through it. Went by East Beach and seen some piles of seaweed along the bay area too. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it gets better before the 4th so the local shops can make their much needed money.

Tight lines,

Ricky V.

Yeah I'm learning from what the bait shops are telling me. Been here for years but don't get out much to the Gulf due to having to get back surgery because some idiot hit me going 70mph while I was waiting at a light. If you can help me out with some more knowledge then it would be appreciated. Moved here with my wife who's from here. Use to fishing the Atlantic and everywhere in the Midwest. Was probably my 6th time getting out to the coast line. I learned more about the fish and haven't learned much about the seaweed and what causes it. Thanks.

I think the reason for the abundance of seaweed this year is due to the late fronts we received. The seaweed would be coming in and then a north wind would blow and cause the seaweed to be blown back offshore. Then the south wind would blow and cause it to come in and then another front would blow through causing it to build back up in the gulf. Finally, we've had nothing but south winds so all the seaweed that was built up in the gulf is allowed to come to shore. That's my reasoning, though I may be wrong.
