OMG......look at what happened to Purtis Creek when people started managing the vegetation. Don't mess with Mother Nature......Fork is great just like it is.

Pretty sure the vegetation that you're talking about is Emergent Pennywort.
There is some alligator weed, but the lush taller bigger leafed plant is Pennywort.
