Hey all,
It seems that there is good bream fishing to be had out at the Guadalupe River and Lake Dunlap and I had a good time there underneath the I-35 bridge a couple weeks ago. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of better bank access spots. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Bank spots on the three major river lakes Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid are very limited. Just about all the bank and docks are privately owned. The Faust Street Bridge which is to the right of the Dunlap boat ramp is a pretty good spot with lots of public bank area. There is also a lot of bank area above the spillway. As for Mcqueeney there is no public accesses to that lake. The only place on Placid with public bank space is right at the boat ramp below IH 10.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give those spots around Dunlap a shot next time I head out.

Dunlap has virtually no public access.
I know this wasn't your question, but look into getting a kayak if you want to hit Dunlap, Placid or McQueeney. They can go as cheap as $100 used.
You CAN find some great spots to fish above Canyon Lake on the Guad, without a boat. PM me for details.

Plus #1 on getting a Kayak! There is one caution to this suggestion, and that is it will most likely become an addiction to which there is no cure. There are a few support groups where other kayakers gather, but then the addiction just becomes worse. Tread lightly my friend, and try to resist, but it will all be for naught, and you will be welcomed with open arms.

Yes, it's all private property with only one or two access points on all the river lakes except McQueeney which used to have about three or four public access places, and Dunlap had some private property fishing camps also that charged a small fee to camp and use a primitive launch made with a few sacks of cement. Times have changed from little two by four and plywood shanty type weekend hideaways to now huge mansions along the shorelines. All the little fishing camps are gone and now McQueeney has basically no public launch and the only access is if you know someone that has property on the shore or you actually live there.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but to fish McQueeney all one has to do is be dropped off on Admiral B. lane and launch off either bridge with your yak. The signs say "no fishing or parking" not "no launching kayaks". A point I made with a local resident, respectfully.
Again, to really fish Dunlap, McQueeney, Placid or Nolte you need a yak and/or a boat.
Or know someone who knows someone who knows someone.
