I am looking real hard at buying a new 2014 Nitro Z8. Give me all of the good and bad things about them.
Is the 200 HP motor enough?

First bad thing is its a Nitro not that it's a bad boat but resale sucks.
Second is the service dept at Bass Pro they suck!

You can find a pretty good used Z8 for sale on BBC with very low hours for a lot less money than buying new. Good luck with the boat hope you find one.

200HP isnt enough for that boat.. You'll be lucky to get any kind of performance out of it.. Top end w/ light load will be around 62-64. The Z-7 with 150 will push same if not more.. Id highly consider upgrading to a 225 or 250.. Yes it costs more but IMO im not gonna spend money on a boat that wouldnt perform to its potential.

I personally like the z8 better than z9. Ive had a 929 and its just too bid for the way i fish. Get at least a 225. As far as resale.... yes you get less but you also pay less up front. If you like the boat go for it.

Dude, I bought a new Z7 two years ago. Its been a great boat. Ignore all the Nitro hate, they have come a loooooong way from when they sucked. When I've had toys installed (structure scan, LEDs, Power Poles) I've had guys doing the work comment on how much better they are put together then they expected. I knew when I bought it I wasn't concerned about resale. At the time they offered exactly what I wanted (150 4 stroke) and the price was great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I wouldn't hesitate to tell my buddy to buy one. Its your cash, buy what you want. If Nitro is what you want, get it.

Well, you're describing the boat I bought and friggin LOVE. Except mine's a 2010. Bought if off the BBC from a guy14 hours away from me. I know the power guys will say it's not enough motor but it'll run around 60 with two guys and six billion pounds of tackle (as I have mine set up) OR it'll run in the high 60's empty or light. The boat handles and fishes like a dream. The Pro XS motor is as good as they get. I'd like a little better mileage, but it is what it is. The storage, design, layout and everything else is just awesome. If you have particular questions, feel free to pm me. But, to answer your question.........unless you need to run over 60 mph, you will NOT be unhappy with that boat. YES, you'll be happier with all the boats that everyone else will mention, you'll just spend $5 - $20 K more for them. And, there's nothing wrong with that. But what you can afford. Mine jumps out of the hole and just flat runs...........but it doesn't fly. But, who cares? Go fish, enjoy.

Good boat, bad resale. You'll be happier long term with a 225 or 250.

I have a buddy with a Z-8 and 250 Pro XS and it will barely hit 70. And it is not very old. Nice rig, Id definitely get a 250 for sure.

If you like it buy it. Don't listen to all of the naysayers. The 200 will save you dollars on fuel and will do fine. I get tired of boat snobs.
I would make sure it had plenty of troll motor on it before I would worry about the engine size. That boat will do about 60mph with a 200 and that is plenty.
Enjoy it, there is nothing like a new boat regardless of brand!
